The ES60 is the latest addition to Kawai’s ES range of highly regarded portable digital pianos, offering exceptional value for aspiring
pianists to begin their musical journey.
Scheduled for release in late 2024, this brand new model features Kawai’s trademark keyboard action and sound technologies, closely
replicating the touch and tone of an acoustic grand piano in an ultra-portable package. The newly developed Responsive Hammer Lite (RHL)
keyboard action offers fully graded keys to help develop hand strength and technique. It also incorporates the authentic hammer-sensing
and key cushioning technologies from the latest CN201 and CN301 models, ensuring superb playability, control, and low mechanical noise
to avoid disturbing others.
The ES60 features the rich, expressive sound of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano, reproduced using Harmonic Imaging sound
technology. This ensures smooth transitions in tonal character from pianissimo to fortissimo, allowing aspiring pianists to learn and master
expressive dynamic control. In addition to the core acoustic piano sounds, the ES60 also showcases a selection of electric pianos, organs,
strings and other instruments, inspiring players to perform or accompany a variety of musical genres, at home or on stage. Its 20 W stereo
speaker system, equipped with the same drivers as the acclaimed ES120, delivers impressive volume with both richness and clarity, directing
sound upward and towards the player for an enhanced listening experience.
Weighing just 11 kg, the ultra-portable ES60 is easy to carry around the house, or from classroom to recital hall. The instrument features
standard 1/4" stereo Line Out connectors for recording or additional amplification, and a full-size headphone connector conveniently
located on the front of the instrument. A USB-MIDI port allows connection to computers and smart devices, supporting a range of notated
score and learning apps such as Skoove, Tomplay, and Kawai’s PiaBookPlayer. The ES60 is operated via two panel buttons, with handy
function guides printed behind the keyboard, and can also be controlled using the PianoRemote app for iOS and Android devices.
The ES60 marks a significant new direction for Kawai, expanding into the more affordable “entry-level” market with the goal of enhancing
brand awareness. By offering an instrument at this highly competitive price, Kawai aims to strengthen its foothold within rapidly growing e-commerce retail channels, while planting the seeds for future growth. This strategic move is designed to introduce beginners to the Kawai
brand, with the hope that they will become lifelong fans and continue their musical journey with Kawai instruments.
